I'm "Bonking"!

“Bonking” – hypoglycemia, which is marked by tiredness, irritability, dizziness, nausea, confusion, and sometimes fainting. Blood glucose gets depleted and you Bonk!

Yeah… I’m tired, irritable, dizzy… I’m also sick of work. But that’s a common phase in the life of The Hungry Screenwriter. The work thing! Ugh. I go through this, “What am I doing with my life?” crap and I get all pissy. It’s the same thing over and over. Number crunching, stressed out, and non-creative nine hour days ‘bookended’ by bumper to bumper traffic.

Bonking doesn’t help. I’ve been really careful with what I eat - really trying hard to do this 40% Carb 60% Protein thing to lose weight. I cut back on rice, eat more vegies and lean meat with my servings and eat till I’m satisfied versus stuffed like a turkey! It’s tough. But its eventually turning into habit – which is great. I’ve cut soda, I’m drinking more water, I’m eating healthy snacks in between meals for about six ‘meals’ a day, and I’m working out.

I’ve questioned my ambitions of becoming a Triathlete (only because I can’t swim well) but have never thought of quitting. Obstacles like money for equipment, training time and motivation will always get in the way, but I’m not going to quit. What would suck would be injury and sickness. So I’m so careful in how I workout and really try to stay fit to avoid sickness.

So yeah, I’m bonking. That’s the only other explanation to my tiredness, irritability, dizziness, confusion and mood swings. I’m not nauseous and I haven’t fainted. But I’m on the verge.

I need more carbs. GIVE ME RICE!
