Can I make a million dollars working in the food service industry?

And so it’s official. Donna is a full-fledged Registered Nurse. After WEEKS of waiting on results that should have been posted in three days, a transcript mishap and some crying on the phone finally got the process going in the right direction and all stress is now relieved. She passed the NCLEX exam!!!

I had no doubt in my mind. I mean, I am a statistic guru and based on some research I did on pass/fail results, only 5 people in her class of 30somthing should fail based on percentages. And she’s definitely not one of those 5 in my opinion. If she was, she would have just made the grade to pass nursing school instead of trying to get an "A" in every class... she did extremely well going to school while juggling a house filled with wild and crazy nuts.

Whew. It’s done. It’s over. No more studying. A double income family. An opportunity for me to work at Starbucks, Barnes & Noble AND Jamba Juice all at the same time.

Maybe I should do a movie about a guy who’s only goal in life is to work at these retail/food service business with the ultimate goal to be a self-made millionaire. I mean, the book alone would put him over the million dollar mark! And it’s all research for me as I’m writing the script about this guy which is actually a biography rather than fiction. It’ll be a ‘based on a true story’ card after the titles just like in “Fargo”! Except there’s no death in a wood shredder scene. Or… maybe there will be.

Congrats, hon.

In other HungryScreenwriter news…

Donna and I headed to El Portal theater in NoHo to watch Suhaila’s show, “Sheherezade”. It was opening night and there was a pretty good turnout for a Thursday. I’m sure tonight and Saturday night it’ll be packed. This was the second time I’ve seen Sheherezade and it was Donna’s first.

Donna’s response… “Wow. I want to learn how to belly dance!”

Suhaila brings to stage a certain aura. It’s hard to explain but I’ll try. She has obviously trained and prepared very talented dancers to dance around and next to her. But when she steps onto stage you can’t help but train your eyes on her. She exudes a level of confidence, sex appeal, and professionalism that is completely special. She’s a unique performer and her performance seems effortless. Her dancers complement the choreographed dances but, with all due respect to the other dancers, all you need is to put Suhaila on stage and you got yourself a show worthy of the ticket price.

Go see the show! Get there early, buy your tickets and have a seat and watch something different, something special and something you won’t forget!

Eat first though! There’s no food sold or allowed in the theater. The show goes for about 2 hours. There’s a popular sushi restaurant down the street which should hold you over till the curtain drops. Just eat early and make sure you get your tickets!

Let me know if you go… I might be there again tonight.
